“Keeping it Simple”
A few years back my brother Mike and I were cooking a meal that was eventually named “The meal of Rights” for apparently there was nothing wrong with it according to my 7 children and three of their friends. My brother was built like a Tight End (You notice I said was :0) and me, you ask? I’m a Middle Linebacker. We both had a penchant for leveling opponents and we were exhibiting a little of that behavior around the stove as brothers usually do. I was sautéing some mushrooms in a little wine and butter while Mike was browning some beef, When he decided to jokingly bump into me on the way back from the fridge, forcing me to hit my thigh into the handle on the oven door. Folks, thats all it took to get me assigned to the “Retrieval, and ya might as well clean while you’re at it, crew”. The wife’s nickname was “Floors” so there was no way she was going to overlook this opportunity and we both relegated ourselves to that fact. A small can of Slap yo’ Momma and a Pepper shaker had fallen off the back of the stove far enough that I had to pull the stove out to get to them. It’s amazing what can collect under a stove in a short amount of time! If Scotty ole’ boy only would have had his epiphany A few years earlier I could have avoided having to clean under the watchful eye of the “angel of death” (Floors). I just had a thought, Maybe the kids were intimidated by the two of us cooking and just “said” everything tasted right? Hmm? The previous Christmas we did file Courtney’s tooth with a toe nail file after she “bit” it face first jumping a ramp with her bike. Hey wait a second now! We didn’t know the nerve was exposed!
