Editor’s Choice: Fritaire Glass Bowl Air Fryer

The innovative appliance is powered by a 1500W/400F degrees halogen heater with engineered vortex convection

I’ve been intrigued by air fryers over the past decade (who isn’t), but I’ve also been skeptical of cooking food in plastic appliances (for obvious reasons). And contrary to its name, an air fryer doesn’t really “fry” food in the classical sense. It uses hot air circulated in the appliance to cook food. Similar to a convection oven, air fryers produce foods that are crispy outside and moist and tender inside without actual frying.

Some toaster ovens have built-in “air fryer” settings, but when it comes to air fryers, homeowners seem to prefer a standalone appliance. Enter the new Fritaire Glass Bowl Air Fryer, which as its name implies, uses a glass bowl, as opposed to a plastic enclosure. So I was fully on board. It’s Teflon-free, plastic-free, phthalate-free, and BPA-free.

Before we get into the results, let’s talk about what makes this unit special. For starters, it features a self-cleaning glass bowl, so maintenance is super easy. Just rinse, dry, and then fry. The unit is powered by a 1500W/400F degrees halogen heater with engineered vortex convection for crispy even results. The Fritaire includes three cooking accessories to help you create your favorite dishes: the rotisserie, the French tumbler, and air.

The Fritaire features six one-touch cooking functions: steak, chicken, seafood, French fries, bake, and dehydrate, So let’s get to cooking. First, I tried three easy foods to cook: French fries, chicken breasts, and salmon.

The Fritaire’s fast, super convection cooking method quickly browned chicken, potatoes, and fish without overcooking the inside. That’s very similar to how deep-frying works, which is where both the comparison and the name come from.

The best part: cooking something in an air fryer is certainly healthier than deep-frying or pan-frying in oil. Less oil means less fat and fewer calories too.

I then tried cooking mozzarella sticks and chicken wings, and the results were similarly fantastic: crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.

In summary, if you’re going to get an air fryer, try the Fritaire Glass Bowl Air Fryer. I give it two big thumbs up. It cooks certain foods beautifully. Essentially, if you’re going to deep fry foods, you should use an air fryer.
