The company Birdbuddy has announced its new products, Birdbuddy 2 and Birdbuddy 2 Mini. Birdbuddy 2 will include new features from the first generation, such as a new petal camera and artificial intelligence. Birdbuddy 2 will help people reconnect with nature, bring more wildlife into their backyard, and support the environment.
Birdbuddy 2 and Birdbuddy2 Mini come with built-in advanced AI to help recognize wildlife by animal type and species, using video and audio recognition. With the new Petal Smart Nature Camera, users will not have to worry about durability and energy consumption. While connected to Wi-Fi, users will be notified when an animal encounters the habitat, even when away from home.
Birdbuddy 2 comes with additional features compared to the Birdbuddy 2 Mini. The device includes solar panels for daytime charging of the Petal Camera, as well as a nighttime mode to conserve power when no activity is detected. The Birdbuddy 2 will retail for $199. It will include the following specifications:
- Redesigned circular camera housing with portrait and landscape mounting flexibility
- 2K HDR video, slow-motion recording, and 135° wide field of view
- Gorilla Glass–protected lens for outdoor durability
- AI species recognition using both visual and audio cues
- High-fidelity microphone for birdsong identification
- Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for reliable connectivity
- Dual integrated solar panels and automatic night sleep mode
- Integrated perch extender and bigger seed capacity
- Height 9.0 in x Width 6.1 in x Depth 6.3 in (with perch)
The Birdbuddy 2 sold-out pre-orders are expected to ship to customers in February 2026 and to be released to market in mid-2026.
Birdbuddy also announced the Birdbuddy 2 Mini, which shares several features with the Birdbuddy 2, including the Petal Camera and built-in AI recognition. Unlike the Birdbuddy 2, the Mini does not include a nighttime mode, solar panels, or an integrated perch extender. Birdbuddy 2 was built for individuals with limited outdoor space or who are first-time smart birders. The Birdbuddy 2 Mini will retail for $129. Birdbuddy 2 Mini will include the following specs:
- Delivers the same intelligent camera and AI bird identification experience as Birdbuddy 2
- Compact form factor for balconies, smaller backyards, and first-time smart birders
- Smaller seed capacity
- Optional single solar panel and perch extender
- Height: 6.95 in x Width: 5.91 in x Depth: 5.31 in (6.24 in with perch)
The Birdbuddy 2 Mini pre-order will open mid-2026 and is expected to ship late 2026.
